Aware 2025

This annual exhibition is intended to bring history, cultural diversity and the community together through art!

You are invited to submit a proposal to be the Lead Artist and select the theme of the 2025 Aware exhibition.

What is Aware?:    
  • A month-long EVENT that uses art to focus on a cultural, social or diversity-related theme (examples below).
  • The OPENING reception will bring awareness to the topic of the exhibition, either with a guest speaker, guest performer or through some other type of program.
  • A COMMUNITY ART PROJECT will involve contributions from a maximum number of people from the community--artist and non-artist alike. (examples below).
  • The LEAD ARTIST can have up to three artworks on special display​ (optional).

Rules/Eligibility for Making a Proposal: 
  • Local/Regional Artists aged 18 or older. 
  • Must be willing to champion the Aware exhibition and lead the community art project.
  • Must be able to attend all exhibition events.
  • There is no monetary compensation for being the lead artist.
  • Understand that the overarching theme you suggest might also be submitted independently by another artist.  The entire proposal will be considered for determining which lead artist will be chosen.
  • The community art project should be original in nature.  If you wish to enlarge on a project that was previously held by another artist or art group, written evidence of their consent must be included in your proposal.
  • Two or more artists may team up to lead the exhibition and community art project.  List both names on the proposal and the form on this page, and contact info for one person.

Submission Fee: 
  • There is NO fee for submitting a proposal.

  • You will need to email at least 1 concept photo for the community art project.  This can be a sketch. (email to [email protected])
  • You can email additional photos of either the concept or your own work that will also be featured.​
  • Fill out the online form and email images by September 20, 2024 to Jorge A. Saenz at [email protected]

EXAMPLES/IDEAS:

Ideas for themes include:  
our Philippine community, racial equality, people of color, human rights, homelessness, food insecurity,  etc, 

Ideas for community art projects include:
people submitting stories, poems, hand-made objects, photos, artwork, etc.
