​We ask artists to create a tribute to the Great Masters in the form of a reproduction of their work under these two categories.
Category 1:  Attempt an exact copy of their work.
Category 2:  Use the master's technique to create an image that
                     is easily recognizable as the master's style, make it your own or add a touch of humor.

Special Rules:

• ​Category 1 artworks may not be the same size as the original master's piece.
  
• All artworks must include the original master's name by the artist's signature on the artwork (i.e., "after Monet")

Eligibility:  Open to Local Artists (no shipped works)
Enter up to 3 pieces.  Note: There is a jury process and not all three pieces may be accepted. 
Entry Fee:  $30     ($25 for Artists Gallery Members and VBAC Annual Supporters)
         *Entry fee is non-refundable
To Submit: 

• Fill out the entry form on this page by Friday, January 29th.
• You will need to upload a photo of each of your artworks. File name of photo should have your last name & title.
• Submit a description and statement about each piece, to be displayed with the work.
• During drop off, provide a color copy of the original master's work to be hung next to your work (print of the original master should be between 4x6" and 5x7") and should include the master's name and the title of the original artwork.
• Pay entry fee by check (payable to VBAC) or PayPal/CC using button on the confirmation sent to you.
• Notifications will be sent out by email on Monday Feb. 1 if any artworks are not accepted.  Otherwise plan to drop off all work that was submitted.

Commission:   

• 30% of sales retained by The Artists Gallery for Invitational Artists

• 25% of sales retained by The Artists Gallery for AG Artists

*By submitting your art, you understand and agree that The Artists Gallery and VBAC are not responsible and cannot be held liable for any loss, damaged or missing artworks during and after this exhibition.  You give us permission to use images of your artwork for marketing purposes.

Drop Off Art:
The DEADLINE for DROP OFF is TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2nd at 5 PM. No works will be accepted after Tuesday at 5 pm. If you cannot drop off on Tuesday, please arrange for an EARLY drop off the weekend before.

• Posters and postcards/handouts will be available at drop off.
• ​Remember  to provide a color photo of the original master's work that includes title and artist name.

After the event pick up:  Tuesday, March 2, 2021, 10 am-5 pm

Exhibition Opening:   (Updates on Covid-19 Protocol will be available before the event)

• Friday February 5th, from 10 am - 5 pm at the Virginia Beach Art Center
• Awards presentation streamed on Facebook Live at 7 pm
• Note: Due to the pandemic, there is no traditional reception.

​ARTIST TALKS (optional):  Sunday February 28th, from 3pm to 4pm.
Artists are invited to an informal "Artist Talk"  to discuss their works with members of the public.  Art may be taken home after 4 pm by those who participate in the art talk.

GENERAL RULES

• This is a juried exhibition. 
• VBAC is a community gallery.  The staff curates the show before judging occurs.

• Current original works only, not previously exhibited at VBAC Monthly Exhibitions.
• Works should be completed within the last 2 years. 
• All works must be free of copyright infringement. 
• One to three pieces can be submitted, but not all may be accepted.
• All entries will hang together, so they must be a cohesive body of work.
• Artworks, mats and frames must be in good and clean condition.
• Framing is preferred, but not required.  Image on gallery wraps has to be extended around all sides of the canvas, no staples visible.  The sides of the image should compliment and not compete with the image.  All edges must be clean and well executed.
• Works must be labeled on back with title, medium, price, name and phone number.
• WIRE INSTRUCTIONS: All two-dimensional works must have a tight hanging wire, three inches down from the top of the frame.  Wire must be attached to the frame and not the backing.   -NO EXCEPTIONS-
• Works requiring special installation must be cleared in advance.
• All works will be on the website and for sale throughout the duration of the exhibition.
• Artist will be notified of a sale.​
• All artwork should be suitable for viewers of all ages.
