Aware '23 has several events and components for the community, and we hope you'll participate in all of them!
- Summer and Fall: The Red Sand Project (info TBA)
- Call to Artists: Art that incorporates one of the symbols of human trafficking (prospectus to come)
- Call to the Community: Create a butterfly to add to our "Set Them Free" installation

A call went out to the community for proposals and the GFWC Woman's Club of Tidewater submitted the chosen idea. They are leading all the activities for this exhibition, and we are super excited about the partnership!
Hampton Roads is one of the leading communities in the nation when it comes to human trafficking. That is not a ranking to be proud of! We hope this exhibition will help people understand that trafficking is not always about sex. It's not only women or minorities. It's not always foreigners. Trafficking happens across all races, genders, ages and nationalities.
We can be part of the solution. The first step is learning how to recognize it and then knowing what to do when you suspect it.
