Judge: Christine Pianin Christine Pianin is a self-taught artist, born and raised in France. After moving to the United States, she obtained a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology. For the next 30 years, she worked as a therapist in various milieus, facilitating individual and group sessions with clients facing an array of mental illness and substance abuse issues. She then later specialized in emergency psychiatric care. She believes that both therapy and artmaking end up revealing a human being through the transformative process of creativity and healing. She retired early and is now dedicated to her art. With boundless creativity, she has explored and focused on multiple mediums such as collage, assemblage and painting. She finds that all forms of art, whether traditional or modern, have a value of their own, whether it be through aesthetics, craftmanship and/or social messaging. She is a resident artist at Ukwensi Gallerie in Norfolk/Ghent. She has been selected for local shows at the Torggler Fine Arts Center, Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center and Suffolk Annual Juried shows. She has also participated in group shows in Philadelphia and Miami. Awards:
